FACILITIES:

Laboratory
School of Forest Resources Building

Professors Brown and Catchmark share ~1500 square feet of laboratory space in the new Forest Resources Building (right). This lab space has been designed to be an integrated research and educational laboratory with comprehensive capabilities ranging from biological cell culturing and examination facilities (including biological hoods, optical and fluorescence microscopes, incubators, shakers, etc.) to thermal analysis equipment and dynamic mechanical analysis equipment to study bio-composite materials.

Penn State Nanofabrication Facility
The Penn State Nanofabrication Facility (Nanofab, right) is a completely open access national NSF NNIN user facility containing over $32 million dollars of state-of-the-art nanofabrication and nanocharacterization equipment. The Nanofab has patterning, deposition, etching and characterization instrumentation reaching the 2-15nm scale. Operating for over 12 years, the Nanofab has an established performance record of proactively identifying and engaging non-traditional users of nanotechnology and of bringing nanoscience and engineering to new disciplines.
